     Peter Greig. Described as shipowner (retired) in the entry in the Register of the death of his wife. He was born circa 1822 in Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland.² He married Elizabeth Campbell Crombie, daughter of David Guillan Crombie and Janet Campbell (Jessie) Webster, on 10 April 1856 (http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~usher/ushersct/3965.htm says the marriage took place on 10 April 1856 in Geelong, Australia).^3,2 Peter Greig and Elizabeth Campbell Crombie were appeared in the Census of 1881 together with three of their children at Dumbarton Road, Clydeview, Lanarkshire.² Peter Greig and Michael Alexander Greig appeared in the 1891 census at 11 Clydeview, Govan, Lanarkshire. Michael is listed as a student of science.⁴

     Alice de Grendon was the daughter of Sir Ralph de Grendon and Joan de Clynton.^1,2 Alice de Grendon married Sir Philip Chetwynd of Ingestre, son of Philip Chetwynd of Ingestre and Isabella Puleston, circa 1305.¹

     Joan de Grendon was the daughter of Sir Ralph de Grendon and Joan de Clynton.¹ Joan de Grendon married Sir Roger Chetwynd of Ingestre, son of Philip Chetwynd of Ingestre and Isabella Puleston, say 1343.^1,2

      Of Grendon, Warwickshire.¹ Sir Ralph de Grendon married secondly Joan de Clynton.²

     Adam de Gresbrooke was the son of Bartholomew de Gresbrooke and Edith (Unknown).¹ Adam de Gresbrooke died before January 1294 s.p.¹

     Bartholomew de Gresbrooke was the son of Robert de Gresbrooke.² Bartholomew de Gresbrooke married Edith (Unknown).¹ Bartholomew de Gresbrooke died before 1268.¹

     John de Gresbrooke was the son of John de Gresbrooke.¹ John de Gresbrooke died between 1407 and 1413.¹

     John de Gresbrooke was the son of William de Gresbrooke.² John de Gresbrooke died after April 1383.¹

     John Gresbrooke (Senior) of Gresbroke Hall was the son of John Gresbrooke of Shenstone.¹

     John Gresbrooke of Middleton was the son of John de Gresbrooke.² In September 1404 Thomas Oudeby, clericus, sued John Gresbroke of Middleton to render him a reasonable account for the time he was his Bailiff in Shenstone. John did not appear, and the Sheriff returned he held nothing within his Bailiwick, etc. He was therefore ordered to arrest and produce him on the Quindene of St. Hillary.¹

     John Gresbrooke of Shenstone was the son of John Gresbrooke of Middleton.² He witnessed a grant in 13 Edw. 4 (1473) and was named in a concord in 21 Hen. 7 (1506). Grazebrook's pedigree probably cannot be trusted beyond this point.

     Robert de Gresbrooke was the son of Robert de Gresbrooke.² Robert de Gresbrooke died after 1348.¹

     Robert de Gresbrooke was the son of Robert de Gresbrooke.¹

     Robert de Gresbrooke was the son of Bartholomew de Gresbrooke and Edith (Unknown).² Robert de Gresbrooke died before 1305.¹

      Round dismisses the whole Yorkshire line of this family which was propounded by Grazebrook in his Pedigree of the Family of Grazebrook of which Robert son of Roger de Gresboc in Yorkshire is supposed to be a cadet line. Much of the early part of the subsequent Staffordshire line can probably also be viewed with suspicion.¹

     William de Gresbrooke was the son of Robert de Gresbrooke.¹

     Sir John Gresley of Drakelow and Colton married as his first wife Elizabeth Clarell, daughter of Sir Thomas Clarell, circa 1410.^1,3,4 Sir John Gresley of Drakelow and Colton married secondly Margaret Norwood circa 1440.⁴ Sir John Gresley of Drakelow and Colton died on 17 January 1448/49.⁵

     Katharine Gresley was the daughter of Sir John Gresley of Drakelow and Colton and Elizabeth Clarell.¹ Katharine Gresley married John Cawarden, son of Sir John Cawarden and Elizabeth Malveysin, Katherine, who is only mentioned as having married Sir William Peto (occ. 1430, d. 1464-5) who was a son of William de Peto (d. 1406-7) by Joan daughter of Sir John Thornbury and subsequently wife of Sir Robert Corbet. William and Katherine had a son John, born in about 1434 (d. 1487-8), who in 1453-4 married Eleanor Mantfeld.

It is possible that this Katherine had previously married John Cawarden, of Mavesyn Ridware, before 1426, and had a son John and several other children by him: but as her husband survived her and married secondly Margaret Boteler and did not die till July 8, 1475, there is some unexplained mystery. Possibly there were two sisters Katherine,
or conceivably a divorce.^1,2,3

     Frances Harriett Greville was the daughter of Algernon Frederick Greville.¹ Frances Harriett Greville married Charles Henry Gordon Lennox 6th Duke of Richmond and Gordon, son of Charles Lennox 5th Duke of Richmond and Caroline Anglesey, on 28 November 1843.¹

     Thomas Grey married Katherine Miles, daughter of Robert Miles and Parnell Reeve, in 1593 in Harwich, Essex.^1,2 Thomas Grey died in 1607.¹

     Nellie Bingham Grier was born on 9 February 1925 in Clover, South Carolina.² She married John Ladd Sewall, son of William Sewall and Sarah Elizabeth Trask, on 8 October 1949 in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian church, Clover, South Carolina.³ Nellie Bingham Grier died on 25 February 2008 in Due West, South Carolina, at the age of 83.²

     Caroline Grierson was born circa 1811 in West Indies.³ She was the daughter of Major William Grierson.² Caroline Grierson married William Robert Brudenell Smith, son of Hon. William G. Smith and Susannah Webber, on 13 November 1832 in Montreal.²

     Elizabeth Grierson married Robert Hobkirk.¹

     (Georg)Ina Grieve was born on 12 August 1852 in Grieves Corner, Lennox, Ontario.^1,2 She was the daughter of William Bell Grieve and Elizabeth Fairbairn.¹ (Georg)Ina Grieve married Charles G. Bradshaw, son of Henry Bradshaw and Margaret (Unknown), on 8 September 1875 in Richmond Township, Ontario, Canada, Thomas B. Wood & M. Grieves, both of Richmond, were witnesses.³ (Georg)Ina Grieve is also recorded as Georgiana Grieves in the transcription of her marriage record.³ She died on 25 March 1929 in Deseronto, Hastings, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 76.¹

     Agnes Grieve was christened on 2 February 1822 at Hawick, Roxburghshire.¹ She was the daughter of Walter J. Grieve and Christian Elliot.¹

     Dolly Grieve was born on 24 March 1783 in Roberton, Roxburghshire.² She was the daughter of John Grieve and Isabella Turnbull.¹ Dolly Grieve died in 1806.

     Esther Grieve was born on 15 July 1844 in Napanee, Canada West.^2,3 She was the daughter of William Bell Grieve and Elizabeth Fairbairn.¹ Esther Grieve married John Vader on 7 April 1866 in Richmond, Lennox and Addington County, Ontario, the transcription of the marriage record gives Esther's parents as William and Isabella.⁴ Esther Grieve died on 4 December 1901 in Hastings, Ontario, at the age of 57.²

     George Grieve. Schoolmaster.⁵ He was christened on 17 May 1779 at Roberton, Roxburghshire.⁶ He was the son of John Grieve and Isabella Turnbull.^3,4 George Grieve married Minto Bell, daughter of William Bell and Markie Minto, circa 1809.¹ George Grieve and Minto Bell emigrated in 1832 to Quebec, Canada, with their son William Bell.⁷ George Grieve died on 6 May 1841 in Montreal, Canada, at the age of 61 the note concerning Montreal is amongst the Bell papers and continues: "in the house of his daughter Mrs. Chas. Murray - she had lost all her children & on July 31st had one son now her only child". The burial record calls him "of Ormstown."^8,9 He was buried on 8 May 1841 in Old Military Cemetery, Montreal.^9,5
