Joanna Hincksman1

F, d. 21 December 1661
     Joanna Hincksman was the daughter of (unknown) Hincksman. Joanna Hincksman is also recorded as Joanna Henchman.2 She is also recorded as Hinckaman.3 She married Charles Hoar, son of Charles Hoar and Margery (Unknown) of Gloucester, circa 1609? Joanna Hincksman with five of her children emigrated in 1640 to New England and immediately settled in Braintree. She died on 21 December 1661 in Braintree, Massachusetts.1,4 She was buried in Quincy, in the old burial ground with her son Leonard and his wife and daughter, near the graves of her daughters Mrs. Flynt and Mrs. Quincy.5

      Merchant of Boston.1 Grove Hirst was living in Cotton Hill, Boston.2 He was born on 29 August 1675.3,4 He was the son of William Hirst and Mary Grove.4 Grove Hirst married Elizabeth Sewall, daughter of Chief Justice Samuel E. Sewall and Hannah Hull, on 17 October 1700 in Boston the service being conducted by the Rev. Cotton Mather.4,5 Grove Hirst died on 28 October 1717 at the age of 42 "my worthy and dear Son-in-Law Mr. Grove Hirst was seised with a violent Fever of which he died the last Lord's Day Night, 3 or 4 hours after Midnight, to our great amazement. He took his solemn leave of his Family and me Last Friday, in a most Christian manner; and made his Will. He has appointed Mr. Daniel Oliver and Mr. Wm. Woolsteed to be his Exectrs. Has left five Small Orphans; a Son and four Daughters. To morrow he is to be laid by his Mother-in-Law, who was very dear to him, and just by his dear wife. The Lord fit us to follow."3,4
