Lowell, the cotton industry in America and organised and built the Boston and Lowell railroad, the first in the US.2 Patrick Tracy Jackson was born on 14 August 1780 in Newburyport, Massachusetts.3 He was the son of Hon. Jonathan Jackson and Hannah Tracy.1 Patrick Tracy Jackson married Lydia Cabot, daughter of Andrew Cabot and Lydia Dodge, on 1 November 1810 in Boston, Massachusetts.3 Patrick Tracy Jackson died on 12 September 1847 in Beverly, Massachusetts, at the age of 67.3

He was a first lieutenant in the Fifth Massachusetts Cavalry during the Civil War, became a cotton broker and was trustee of estates, treasurer of the Boston Provident Association, of the Eastern Yacht Club, and president and director of the Lowell Weaving Company, of Lowell, Mass., in 1906.2
