     James Livingston was born on 27 March 1747.2 He was the son of John Livingston and Catryna Ten Broeck.1 He raised a body of men under the standard of the American Congress. As their commander, he marched against Fort Chambly, seized its entire stores and garrison, and afterward accompanied General Montgomery to Quebec. On the failure of the expedition, Colonel Livingston returned to New York, and in 1776 his men were incorporated by Congress into a regiment called the Canadian Battalion. He was at the battle of Stillwater in 1777, in 1780 was quartered in the Highlands, and served until 1781, when his regiment was reduced.2 James Livingston married Elizabeth Simpson in 1772 in Montreal.3 James Livingston died on 29 November 1832 at the age of 85.3

     James Livingston, 3rd Lord Livingston of Callendar was the son of Alexander Livingston of Callendar and (unknown) (Unknown).1 James Livingston, 3rd Lord Livingston of Callendar married as his first wife Beatrice (or Elizabeth) Fleming, daughter of Lord Robert Fleming, 1st Lord Fleming and Lady Janet Douglas, circa 1470.2 In 1479 succeeded to the title on the death of his childless uncle. James Livingston, 3rd Lord Livingston of Callendar died c 1503 - 1505.3,2
