     Sgt. Richard Ince was born circa 1783 probably in Maryborough, Queen's County, Ireland.1 He served in the 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards, including action in the Peninsula War (1811-1813) being for a while under command of the incompetent Major-General John Slade. He married Maria Bailey in 1818.1 Sgt. Richard Ince died on 5 May 1835 in Coteau du Lac, Quebec.1
