      Notley Rozer was the godson of Thomas Notley the Deputy Governor of Maryland (1676-79) and the chief benefactor in his will. He inherited Cerne Abbey Manor part of which which today is Capitol Hill.1 He was born in 1673.2 He was the son of Col. Benjamin Rozer and Anne Sewall. Notley Rozer married Jane Digges, daughter of Colonel William D. Digges and Elizabeth Sewall.3,2 Notley Rozer died in 1727.2

     Catherine Roët, was born circa 1350. She was the daughter of Sir Payn Roët, Guinne King at Arms. Catherine Roët, married firstly Sir Hugh Swynford before 1367 at St. Clement Danes, Strand, London.1 Catherine Roët, married John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster, son of King Edward III, and Philippa of Hainault, The issue of this marriage, all surnamed Beaufort after their father's French lordship, were all born before their parents were united in wedlock; they were legitimated by the Pope on 1 September, 1396, and also by Charter of Richard II on 9 February, 1397, but this same Charter also excluded them from the succession.1 Catherine Roët, died on 10 May 1403.

     General Sir Edward Lechmere Graves Russell K.C.S.I. was baptised on 5 January 1817 at Clifton, Gloucester.4 He was the son of Major General Lechmere Coore Graves Russell C.B.3 He lived in Ashford Hall, Ludlow, Shropshire.5 General Sir Edward Lechmere Graves Russell K.C.S.I. married Alice Sewell, daughter of Sheriff William Smith Sewell and Mary Isabella Smith, on 24 February 1876 in St. Judes, Southsea, Hampshire.5 General Sir Edward Lechmere Graves Russell K.C.S.I. and Alice Sewell appear on the census of 4 April 1881 at 26 Queens Square, Walcot (Bath), Somerset, with the two stepchildren from her former marriage, the two daughters from the present marriage and six domestic servants. General Sir Edward Lechmere Graves Russell K.C.S.I. died on 29 January 1904 in Bath, Somerset, at the age of 87.6
He entered the Indian Army in 1837, and whilst a subaltern served with the field force in Sind and Afghanistan in 1842-43, and was present in all the operations, including the expedition to and the destruction of Imaumghur, and as adjutant of the Sind Irregular Horse in the battles of Meeanee and Haidarabad and the surrender of Omerkote. He served also in the Abyssinia campaign was resident and commandant at Aden from 1868 to 1871, and commanded the northern division of the Bombay army from 1872 to 1876. He received the K.C.S.I. In 1868. The dates of Sir Edward Russell's commissions were as follows: Lieutenant, 1842; Captain and Major 1849; Lieutenant-Colonel, 1854; Colonel 1860; Major-General, 1868; Lieutenant General, 1876; and General, 1877.7
