Maud le Vavasour was the daughter of Robert le Vavasour.1 Maud le Vavasour married firstly Theobald Walter, son of Hervey Walter of West Dereham and Maud de Valoignes.1 Maud le Vavasour married secondly Fulk fitz Warine III, son of Fulk fitz Warine II and Hawise de Dinan, before October 1207 or, as Eyton puts it, the said Fulk had replaced Robert le Vavasour as grantee of her marriage and dower.2 Maud le Vavasour died before 1226.3

Robert le Vavasour was the son of Sir William le Vavasour of Haslewood and Nichola (Unknown).2,3 He was sheriff of the counties of Nottingham and Derby and as such has been reputed to be the sheriff of Nottingham in the tale of Robin Hood. Maud his daughter is cast as maid Marion for she married Fulk fitz Warin, who was once (or twice) outlawed and yet regained the king's favour. On 5 May 1322 Robert, the son of William de Vavasour, knight owes Thomas de Willoughby, knight 80m. The reply of Simon le Chamberlain, Sheriff of Lincs: Henry le Vavasour, who holds part of the lands and tenements which belonged to Robert the son of William le Vavasour, knight, paid in the presence of me, Thomas de Willoughby, knight, the 60m. remaining of the 80m. contained in the writ; and Thomas gave his acquittance of the 60m. to Henry.4 Robert le Vavasour died before 1323.4

Sir William le Vavasour of Haslewood was the son of Mauger le Vavasour.2 Sir William le Vavasour of Haslewood. Justice itinerant in 34 Henry II; and in the roll of the previous year he appears with Godfrey de Luci and Josceline, the Archbishop of Chichester, as setting the assize in the counties of Lincoln and York.
In 1 Richard I., his pleas are recorded in the northern counties in association with Hugh, Bishop of Durham, on of the chief justiciaries. During the vacancy of the archbishopric of York, he was one of the custodes of its rents and manors.2 He married Nichola (Unknown).3 Sir William le Vavasour of Haslewood died before 1313.4
